Shipload iOS postponed

Due to technical difficulties with the configuration of Shipload onto the Apple App Store, the game will be delayed for a iOS release. We are now looking into how to re-engineer the game for the iOS client.

This process would require us to in theory maintain the same game as two games (since they would in theory be on two different versions) for Android and iOS. In practice, this leads to two separate applications for the dedicated systems, meaning: it’s not a port, not one application to maintain and then “copy->paste” and convert - it’s more like an “original” rewritten game with different technical functions; some even affecting core mechanics of the game.

There are a number of things we have tried to implement, without getting into the entire re-engineering trap; but it hasn’t worked as we had hoped - sadly.

Fear not though! We still intend to release Shipload for iOS - but at this rate, at a later date.

We have gained great knowledge from this process, which we will make sure to apply to our future game development projects.

P.S. Shipload will launch for Android on Google Play in a few days!
